The Looney House

I did it again. I managed to overbook my month with projects that all have due dates. I have a commissioned quilt to finish before November. I also have a Christmas exchange I have to get complete for a quilt group I belong to. That one is almost done.

I received a lot of old furniture that has needed some TLC. I have managed to strip an old dresser from its nasty walnut finish, only to discover a beautiful cherry hue.

first image-sanding down the walnut, right
second image dresser drawers, I ended up having to flip the interior boards because they were warped, that was a nightmare
third- me sanding the whole thing
fourth- the finished wood grain
fifth- the finished, chromed details ( i chromed the handles and details to make it match our iron bed better)
sixth- the completed project

I got 3 chairs that I have to sand down and refinish.

I also had to tackle the ceder chest puzzle. Though not as lovely as it was originally, but I managed to glue together the shattered top and reinforce it. This one is a present for my younger sister. I covered the reinforced wood with rose upholstery fabric. Sanded down the water stains and re varnished it. I also replaced the hinges.

I have Akahige's costume to finish, a murder mystery to plan and get pulled together (suppose to host 2 of them, but I am only going to manage to get one done) I also have my church calling to fulfill. I did manage to get some tomato's cooked and frozen. I still have a fridge full waiting for some attention (they might not make it) I need to get Akahige's hakama washed in vinegar water before next weekend (got to love indigo dye) And to top it all off this is my busy season at the office. Yeah I know I am a nut job. But I must secretly enjoy it, cause I keep managing to do this to myself.

We are still trying to recover from Akahige's motorcycle accident. I have found myself on a bicycle for the first time in many years. He takes me to the office and I ride home. It is about a 2 mile ride, half of it being down hill. Man I am out of shape! He did manage to get his car running again yesterday, now we have to get it to a muffler shop, hopefully without getting pulled over (yeah, reg was up on it back in June)

I have had no motivation to cook lately either. I just get so busy with my projects that food time comes around and I have no umph left to give for that task.

I just remembered I need to get more bags made for my etsy shoppe, hmm.. that might have to wait until November.

until the next looney post......
